The second of two of Gyselynck’s 2022 figurative sculptures in bronze, ‘May I’ is overall a softer, calmer experience than 'Madalena'. The figure lies peacefully, but shadows still casting dramatically across the dark patina. The artist created several works inspired by the same model, in similar reclining poses, as well as media such as ceramic and plaster, but this is the only one which was cast in bronze.
