Oil on linen panel, 8” x 10”.
Painted 'en plein air' on Clapham Common, London.
This painting is a classic example of how differently we can perceive the same single picture depending on the light of the room it hangs in, the time of day (if there is any natural light) and where you are standing. The gallery above shows a small handful of different possibilities. None is necessarily better than the other, but do not despair if it doesn't look at beautiful at one moment as it did another. Wait til the sun comes round, take a step back, or change the frame or where it hangs. These practical steps alone will all affect our perception of the colours within the painting, their relationships to each other, and the objects around it, let alone our internal emotional state. A hand-painted oil painting will have a seemingly-infinite variety of ways you can see and enjoy it, in a way that a print or poster could never.
This is a hand-cut wooden panel therefore please get in touch if you are in need of more precise dimensions (e.g. to the millimetre.)
