Oil on hand-cut Belgian linen panel, 10” x 10”.
 
The rich purple-reds of the plums and warm orange of the peach make this one of Maddy's favourite still life paintings. It's very literal, but also somewhat soft and impressionistic. 
 
The gallery of pictures shows the set up as it was painted, from life, and the the collage shows the stages of the painting: from initial shapes and composition right through to a rough colour block-in and, finally, rendering and fun paint application to create the roundness and textures of the fruit.
 
This surface of this painting was slightly damaged in an exhibiton at the end of 2023. Maddy has since repaired - and hopefully improved - it.
